To facilitate our environmental conservation efforts and promote greater awareness of our cause, Aquasis maintains four visitor centers, located throughout the state of Ceará.

Aquasis is an institution committed not only to the conservation of endangered species but also to promoting the active role of local communities, increasing their potential for sustainable development, and always working in partnership with society leaders and government representatives of the municipalities where the bases of our actions are located.

Understand how the pillars of our conservation projects work together:

Community Engagement

Fishermen, harvesters of shellfish, business entrepreneurs, local residents and activists alike. We believe that everyone can and should be able to contribute directly to conservation strategies and the environmental betterment of where they live.

Environmental Education

Educational presentations, training courses, volunteerism, teacher training and even radio programs are all utilized to help disseminate information to the communities where our projects are being implemented.

Rescue and Rehabilitation

24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our team of biologists, veterinarians and other specialized professionals are always ready to answer any call regarding marine mammal strandings.

Species Monitoring

From dolphins and shorebirds along the coast, to endemic birds of the Caatinga, our team of researchers monitors a collection of target species to assess population trends and develop strategies to address the threats that are endangering their very existence.

Ecosystem Conservation

Supporting the creation and managment of environmentally protected areas and private reserves to promote ecosystem integrity and guarantee the security of quality habitat for specific umbrella species is a key principle of our conservation processes.

Public Policy Support

Participation in local environmental councils, engagement in qualified debates within governmental forums and supporting the development of solutions and strategies for the planning, establishment and management of protected areas is a cornerstone of our conservation objectives.
